This is our mission statment that was developed by the whole team after long and passionate discussions of how, what and who we want to be as a clinic.

Our team is truly compassionate and as our mission statement implies we are dedicated to providing the best medical and surgical care for ALL of our small and large patients.

During the last few years Gundi, practice founder and owner of Gowrie Vet Clinic, has worked hard for this and has managed to collect a dedicated and professional team of vets and nurses.

Dr Gundi Rhoades

Practice Owner (Bachelor of Veterinary Science)

 

Work History

Gundi started her working career in England in 1991, where she worked in a small animal clinic for two years. She then went on to work in a mixed practice for the following 5 years where she developed a keen interest in dermatology and surgery.

In 1998 Gundi moved to Inverell where she has been working as a vet ever since. 

Gundi started Gowrie Vet Clinic in 2002 on her property. As the business expanded, in 2010 she felt the need to move the clinic into town to both accommodate and meet her clients' needs.

2011 saw Gundi complete her studies in Equine Dentistry through Oliver Liyou. This has allowed Gundi to improved the wellbeing of many horses through corrective and preventative dentistry work allowing for happier horse and owner relationships.

In 2015 Gundi expanded her surgery knowledge and skills through completion of an intensive 12 mth surgery course through the University of Sydney

Gundi has a friendly and apporachable manner who is always looking at holistic health of your animal. She is very competent with all animals large and small. She has years of expereince with artificial equine breeding and throughly enjoys cattle and sheep work.

Fun fact

Gundi finds pleasure in her three beautiful children, her cat, two dogs and spending her down time at her farm.

 


Dr Lyddy Van Gyen

Veterinarian (Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Science)

Working History

Lyddy's father was a dedicated veterinarian and it was Lyddy's lifelong dream to follow in her father's footsteps.

She qualified as a veterinarian at Murdoch University in Perth and started at Gowrie Vet Clinic in March 2017. She has hit the road running and has hardly had time to breathe since!

She is the most dedicated veterinarian for her patients and you will find her coming to the clinic in the middle of the night or on her 'off-weekends' to check on your pet or horse!

Lyddy has two other degrees already- one in biochemistry and one in Equine Science which is very helpful now.

Professional interests

Lyd's special interest are the horses, especially lameness work-ups and reproduction.

She also loves surgery.

Fun Fact

Lyddy is an avid horsewoman. From having been a stunt-woman falling of fast galloping horses to being a highest-level eventer, horse trainer and riding instructor. Lyddy just loves her horses! Lyd doubled as Nicole Kidman in the movie Australia!

She lives with her two horses and her young dog 'Jack'.

 

 


Dr Sarah Golding

Veterinarian (Bachelor of Veterinary Biology BVBi, Bachelor of Veterinary Science BVSc)

Working History

After graduating Sarah spent 2 years working in a mixed practice in Emerald. She then went onto Locum in mixed practices across Queenland and Northern NSW. Sarah then had her beautiful daughter and took 12 months off veterinary work until she came back to her home town of Inverell and began working at Gowrie in 2018.

Professional Interests

Sarah is very interested in small animal soft tissue surgery, equine dentistry and ambulatory work.

Fun Fact

Sarah grew up in Inverell, loves spending her weekends campdrafting and looking after her young daugther. Sarah is also passionate about the health and wellness of people and their pets. If veterinary work isn't enough, Sarah also runs a side business in health.


Roslyn Martin

Practice Manager (Certificate IV Vet Nursing)

Working History

Roz began working at Gowrie Vet Clinic in 2011. Prior to her commencement she worked in hospitatility and on a stud cattle operation. Roz has completed her Cert IV in Vet Nursing and has studied equine vet nursing and completed her prac's at Scone Intesive care unit. Roz has completed a cattle Artifical Insemination course and looks forward to furthering her new skills. Roz is the go to girl at Gowrie and has a approachable and friendly manner.

Professional interests

Roz loves surgical nursing and all aspects of large animal health especially reproduction. Roz also has a strong interest in the business side of the practice, in which she has started going to leadership courses and is looking into doing a business management course in the future. 

Fun fact

Roz plays polocrosse throughout the winter months but enjoys all aspects of horse sports.


Maddi Clynch

Head Nurse (Certificate IV Vet Nursing)

Work History

Maddi has been working at Gowrie Vet Clinic since 2011. Maddi started at the clinic by completing her Certificate III in animal studies. She then went on to complete her Certificate IV in Vet nursing. Maddi has also attended multiple leadership courses in the last few years. She also attended the Bain Fallon equine vet nursing in 2015.

 

Professional Interests

Maddi enjoys all aspects of nursing. She is our 'trooper". She is very experienced and never loses her calmness even in the most extreme emergencies.

Fun Fact

Maddi enjoys horse riding, hanging out with her dog and catching up with family and friends


Melinda Bullock

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Vet Nursing)

Working History

Min began work at Gowrie Vet Clinic in 2015. Prior to this Min worked in veterinary clinics in Gunnedah and Armidale. 

Professional Interests

Min loves rehabilitation nursing. She is very dedicated to long stay patients and shows extensive compassion! Min also has a passion in the life saving emergency surgeries.

Fun Fact

Min loves showing horses and riding horses from all disciplines and came first in the Inverell Jockey Club's "Fashion in the Field" back to back!!


Macey Gunn

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Vet Nursing)

 Working History

Macey began volunteering at the end of 2017 and has started her Cert III in Veterinary Nursing which she has completed and now has set her sights on completing her Cert IV Veterinary Nursing.

Professional interests

Macey enjoys caring for medical patients and doing equine work. Once finished her veterinary nursing course Macey is interested in furthering her equine knowledge by completing an equine nursing course.

Fun fact

Macey loves spending time with her pets which include 5 dogs, 1 cat, 2 horses and 2 roosters. She also loves spending her weekends with her family.


Emma Young

Receptionist

Working History

Emma started working at Gowrie in February 2021 as our part-time receptionist. She is the friendly face that will be greeting you on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday's. Emma worked at Gray St Vet Clinic in Emerald for a few years and then went to become as she describes 'professional cow chaser'. 

Professional interests

Emma enjoys her reception role and strives to help each and every client that comes through the door with a friendly and welcoming smile.

Fun fact

Emma enjoys horse riding in her down time and competing in Campdrafts on her weekends. Emma has a Dachshund who rules the house alongside her 2 beautiful girls.


Sneaky

Animal Care Taker

Sneaky was rescued by Gowrie Vet Clinic in 2014. He plays a huge role in our clinic from laying with and calming stressed animals, donating blood to other dogs in need and just generally being a happy face to meet clients and other animals. He has a huge heart and is always around for those who need a big cuddle and the occasional lick.


Patrick

Client Relations

Patrick was rescused by the Gowrie Team in January 2020 and has fitted into the team very comfortably. He is always the happy face either lazing on the chairs in reception or out roaming in the garden ready to greet clients and their pets when they come for their appointments. He loves his food and knows how to let the nurses know when he is hungry again.
