This is our mission statment that was developed by the whole team after long, heated and passionate discussions of how, what and who we want to be as a clinic.

We are proud to say that every word of this mission statement is true and that our team truly is compassionate beyond words and wants to give their best for our small and large patients!

During the last few years Gundi, practice founder and owner of Gowrie Vets, has worked hard for this and has managed to collect a dedicated and professional team of vets and nurses around her.

Sneaky

Animal Care Taker

Sneaky was rescued by Gowrie Vet Clinic in 2014. He plays a huge role in our clinic from laying with and calming stressed animals, donating blood to other dogs in need and just generally being a happy face to meet clients and other animals. He has a huge heart and is always around for those who need a big cuddle and the occasional lick.


Dr Gundi Rhoades

Veterinarian (Bachelor of Veternary Science)

 

Work History

Gundi started her working career in England in 1991, where she worked in a small animal clinic for two years. She then went on to work in a mixed practice for the following 5 years where she developed a keen  interest in dermatology and surgery.

In 1998 Gundi moved to Inverell where she has been working as a vet ever since. 

Gundi started Gowrie Vet Clinic in 2002 on her property. As the business expanded she felt the need to move the clinic to town in 2010 to both accommodate and meet her clients' needs.

2011 saw Gundi complete her studies in Equine Dentistry through Oliver Liyou. This has allowed Gundi to improved the wellbeing of many horses through corrective and preventative dentistry work allowing for happier horse and owner relationships.

In 2015 Gundi expanded her surgery knowledge and skills through completion of an intensive 12 mth surgery course through the University of Sydney

Gundi has a friendly and apporachable manner who is always looking at holistic health of your animal. She is  very competent with all animals large and small. She has years of expereince with artificial equine breeding and throughly enjoys cattle and sheep work.

Fun fact:

Gundi finds pleasure in her three beautiful children, her two cats, two dogs and spending her down time at her farm.

 


Dr Jim

Veterinarian (Bachelor of Veternary Science, Bachelor of Science (Hons))

Working History

James was born in California and was previously a Marine Biologist. He completed his veterinary training at Univeristy of Sydney.

James started work at Gowrie Vet Clinic in 2017. Before this he worked as a small animal practitioner in anaccredited Hospital of Excellence in Grafton and also a mixed practitioner in Central Queensland.

Professional Interests

James enjoys and excells at working with small animals. He loves critical hospital cases, pharmacology and anaesthetia.

Fun Fact

 James loves good food, fine drinks and luxury cars. He also loves teaching his horse, Wild Bill, how to perform tricks.


Dr Lyddy Van Gyen

Veterinarian (Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Science)

Lyddy 's father was a dedicated veterinarian and it was Lyddy's lifelong dream to follow in her father's footsteps.

She qualified as a veterinarian at Murdoch University in Perth and started at Gowrie Vet Clinic in March 2017. She has hit the road running and has hardly had trime to breathe since!

She is the most dedicated veterinarian for her patients and you will find her coming to the clinic in the middle of the night or on her 'off- weekends' to check on your pet or horse!

Lyddy has had two other degrees already- one in biochemistry and one in Equine Science which is very helpful now.

Professional interests:

Lyd's special interest are the horses ,especially lameness work-ups and reproduction.

She also loves surgery .

Fun Fact: 

Lyddy is an avid horsewoman. From having been a stunt-woman falling of fast gallopping horses to being a highest-level eventer, horse trainer and riding instructor. Lyddy just loves her equines!

She lives with her two horses and her young dog 'Billy'.

 

 


Roslyn Martin

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in Vet Nursing)

 Working History

Ros began working at Gowrie in 2011. Prior to her commencement she worked in hospitatlity and on a cattle stud. Ros has completed her Cert IV in Vet Nursing and has studied equine vet nursing and completed her prac's at Scone Intesive care unit. Ros is about to begin a University degree in Animal Science. Ros is the receptionist at Gowrie Vet Clinic and has a approachable and friendly manner.

Professional interests

Ros loves surgical nursing and all aspects of large animal health

Fun fact:

Ros plays polocrosse throughout the winter months and enjoys all aspects of horse sports


Maddi Clynch

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Vet nursing)

Work History

Maddi has been working at Gowrie Vet Clinic since 2011. Maddi started at the clinic by completing her Certificate III in animal studies. She then went on to complete her Certificate IV in Vet nursing. Maddi has also attended leadership courses along with Bain Fallon equine vet nursing in 2015

 

Professional Interests

Maddi enjoys all aspects of nursing. She is our 'trooper": very experienced and never loses her calmness even in the most extreme emergencies.

Fun Fact:

Maddi enjoys horse riding, hanging out with her dog and catching up with family and friends


Melinda Bullock

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in Vet Nursing)

Working History

Min began work at Gowrie Vet Clinic in 2015. Prior to this Min worked in veterinary clinics in Gunnedah and Armidale. Min has began her studies in Equine Vet Nursing.

Professional Interests

Min loves rehabilitation nursing along with equine nursing. She is very dedicated to long stay patients and shows extensive compassion!

Fun Fact:

Min loves showing horses and riding horses from all disciplines and came first in the Inverell Jockey Club's "Fashion in the Field" back to back!!


Phebe Turner

Veterinary Nurse (Studying Certificate IV Vet Nursing)

Working History

Phebe commenced work at Gowrie Vet Clinic in 2015 when she  was studying Animal Studies through a school based traineeship.She liked it so much that she is still here! She completed year 12 in 2016 and  has now started her Certificate IV in Vet Nursing while working full time at Gowrie Vet Clinic.

Professional Interests

Phebe enjoys surgery nursing the most!

Phebe enjoys hanging out with her dog and playing League Tag


Macey Gunn

Veterinary Nurse (Studying Cert III Veterinary Nursing)

 Working History:

Macey began volunteering at the end of 2017 and has started her Cert III in Veterinary Nursing. She is looking at completing her Cert IV with Gowrie in the next few years.

Mumma Cat

Animal Care Taker

Mumma Cat appeared at our clinic in 2016. She hung around outside for many days before wandering into the clinic and finding a spot to have her babies. She then stayed and reared kittens from other mother cats that were not fit to be a mum themselves. She has now been desexed and lives at the clinic. She is always available for cuddles and loves to sit and have a cuppa with you.


Rahni Harrison

Veterinary Nurse (Studying Cert II Animal Studies)

Working History:

Rahni started her traineeship with Gowrie in 2017.

Professional interests:

Rahni enjoys all aspects of the veterinary industry and she mostly likes that every day is different.

Fun fact:

Rahni enjoys competing on her horse, Boy in campdrafts and barrel racing. She also does not mind going to Mud Trials.
